The text of the video

The sisters of the Order of St Clare have written the text of the video. They have included original quotations of St Clare in many places. So Clare's words become alive again. It is a simple and, at the same time, very impressive document, which wonderfully shows you the person of Clare and the spirit of her sisters still living in cloisters today.

The audio–visual realization as a video was performed by Psalmos. The pictorial material, partially dating back to Clare of Assisi's lifetime, was animated with computer technology.

The other part of the video, documenting modern day sisters of the Order, is mostly based on photos taken throughout their lifetimes. True video recordings had been consciously renounced in respect to their life in the cloister and for the preservation of the entity of this piece of work.

The music

On the one hand, the music in the video contains psalms and liturgical songs of the nuns of Lourdes (France) during their prayer times. They were, however, recorded so discreetly, that the nuns weren't disturbed by this during their prayers. In the German and Italian version, some liturgical songs of the nuns of Bad Neuenahr (Germany) and of Milan (Italy) contribute to the typical musical impression of the respective cultural areas.

The other part is instrumental psalter music. The pieces have been composed by us especially for that video to provide a soundtrack for the nuns’ text in the best way possible.

The instrument used for recording the music is a psalterion 12/7, built by Benedictine friar monks of the cloister in En Calcat in the south of France.
